Knit.
Slip 1 Purlwise, Slip 2, Knit 1, Pass slipped sts over, Slip 1 Purlwise.
Knit.
Slip 2, Knit 1, pass slipped sts over.

That's how I do it. I leaves an edge with very identifiable stitches to pick up and all the "work" is done on the one side.

If you forget how many you're supposed to knit before the decrease in the center, look for the gap - knit to one before it. If you still can't tell, count the number of stitches on your needles. Subtract 5 and divide by 2, that's how many sts. you should knit on each side of the "v".

Pack it up, pack it in

Everything needs to fit into 12 containers. Eight on the plane with us, four strapped in the back of the truck. So far, so good.
